First Polka-dotted Zebra
A zebra foal with no stripes but a dark coat and white polka dots sighted in Masai Mara National Reserve in Kenya, the foal was first spotted by Antony Tira, a guide in Masai Mara National Reserve who named the foal Tira.
Reports say, the foal is said to have a condition called pseudo melanism which is a rare genetic mutation where animal species tend to change normality of their stripe patterns.
Biologists and Geneticist add, the foal abnormality is due to a variety of mutations that distract the process of Melanin synthesis, a dark pigment found in the skin of the Zebras.
Tira’s odd coloration in colors must have been the first in history and observed record in the Masai Mara National Reserve, according to Frank Liu, a photographer who was in for rhinos, who later noticed a rare foal in the park, he adds that foals of kind have been sighted in Botswana in the Okavango Delta.
