5 Days Gorilla Tracking Safari
Gorilla Tracking Safari in Uganda brings you to the mountain gorilla trekking Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Bwindi National Park is situated on the brink of the western rift valley in the southwest of Uganda.
The park is home to over 400 endangered Mountain Gorillas, which are probably Africa’s most awe-inspiring creatures. There are also 346 bird species and more than 200 butterfly species. Gorilla trekking is the major tourist activity in Bwindi with four groups currently available daily to tourists interested in mountain gorilla tracking.
The tour groups include the Mubare gorilla group (10 gorillas; 1 silverback gorilla) that was opened for tourism in 1993, Habinyanja gorilla group (18 gorillas, 2 silverback gorillas) was ready in July 1998. Rusheguru group (10 members, 1silverback gorilla) was opened in July 2002 while the Nkuringo gorilla group (19 gorillas, 2 silverback gorillas) was opened for tourism in April 2004.
Gorilla tracking safari in Bwindi can be challenging, therefore, ensure physical fitness. It starts at 8:30 a.m. Local time and can last from a few hours today depending on the movement of these giant apes.
Day 1 Kampala to Queen Elizabeth National Park
You will leave Kampala at 8:00 a.m. and head west to Queen Elizabeth National Park in the foothills of the Moon Mountains, one of the world’s major mountain ranges in Western Uganda.
As you continue to the park you may see different animals and birds given that the park has got about 100 mammal species and a remarkable 606 bird species. Dinner and Overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge/Jacana Lodge
Day 2 Chimpanzee Tracking in Kyambura Gorge
Take an early trip to the gorge of Kyambura to follow the quick and elusive chimpanzees. Although it is unpredictable to see these portable chimpanzees, the walk is great considering the distinct characteristics of the forest.
Alternatively visit the Maramagambo Forest where you will see the bat cave, the blue lake, and several primates. Take a launch tour at the Kazinga Channel in the afternoon. The channel is blessed with many hippos, solitary buffaloes, and a vast array of birds. Evening game drive in the park. Dinner and Overnight at Mweya safari Lodge /Jacana Lodge.
Day 3: Queen Elizabeth – Bwindi Gorilla Forest
Early departure for the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, either through Ishasha, famous for the tree-climbing lion or through an alternative path through cultivated areas. After lunch, go for a nature walk or a community visit. Overnight at Lake Kitandara luxury tents/ Buhoma Community Bandas
Day 4: Gorilla Tracking Safari in Bwindi Forest
Wake up early in the morning and have an early breakfast, then proceed to the park headquarters for briefing by the guides. You will then set off for your Gorilla tracking safari activity in the forests of Bwindi.
Gorilla tracking can be strenuous, you will need to carry packed lunch, drinking water, wear comfortable boots or jungle shoes suitable for steep muddy slopes, put on ear plugs for those who feel uncomfortable with jungle sounds and take a rain jacket.
Walking sticks will be made available for those that require one by the park rangers. Dinner and overnight at Lake Kitandara luxury camp/Buhoma community Bandas.
DAY 5: Drive Back to Kampala
This is the Uganda Gorilla Tracking Safari’s last day. Depart for Kampala after an early breakfast at the safari lodge. Reaching Kampala by evening, our safari guide will drop your favorite safari lodge with in Kampala or Entebbe. Thank you for choosing Abacus African Vacations!
