8 Days Uganda Safari To Lake Mburo, Bwindi Gorilla Forest, Queen And Kibale National Parks

This Uganda Safari brings you to Uganda’s top safari parks: Lake Mburo National Park, Bwindi Gorilla Impenetrable Forest for mountain gorilla trekking tour, Kibale Forest National Park and Queen Elizabeth National Park, chimpanzee trekking safari, wildlife/game safari.

The safari starts with a game-viewing safari through Lake Mburo National park, Uganda’s smallest savanna national park but a wonderful haven for wildlife and nature lovers.

This safari later takes you to Bwindi Gorilla Forest for a gorilla safari. Tracking some of the last remaining 700 mountain gorillas in the world is another omissible holiday activity in a true Uganda Safari. This activity will be carried out in Bwindi where there are 3 habituated gorilla families.

Later, the Safari takes you to Queen Elizabeth, the top safari destination in Western Uganda toured by Uganda. A safari with a broad variety of games such as elephants, lions, buffaloes, hippos, and leopards in the Savannah plains of Queen Elizabeth National Park is another great experience of this Uganda Safari.

Other activities to be carried out on this safari include; a hunt for the tree-climbing lions lounging on old fig trees in the Ishasha region as well as a launch cruise on Kazinga Channel where schools of hippos and crocodiles can be seen.

A wide variety of birds at the channel present a haven to birders yet the tropical rain forests of Maramagambo are a treasure to nature lovers. The safari ends in Kibale National Park with a chimpanzee tracking tour within the tropical rainforest. Apart from chimpanzees, Kibale is home to 11 other primates that can also be seen in this park.

Day 1: Transfer to Lake Mburo Safari Park, Western Uganda

Our (8 DAYS UGANDA WILDLIFE SAFARI TO LAKE MBURO…) safari guide will pick you from your Hotel at 0700 hrs and depart by road for Lake Mburo National Park in Western Uganda. Have stopover to look at the manufacturers of the Royal Drum, stand for a photo opportunity at the Equator and listen to some interesting facts as well.

Continue to Lake Mburo National Park that is an extension of the Tanzanian plains with big herds of zebra, impala, eland, and other ungulates. The park is a haven for bird viewing opportunities. After checking in at the safari lodge, you will take a late afternoon a dug out canoe ride where you will spot hippos, crocodiles, and a variety of water birds.

Day 2 Game Viewing Safari in Lake Mburo National Park

After breakfast, have an early game drive in the park where we will view elands, antelopes, zebras, impala and many acacia- associated birds. We will stop over for lunch, and continue with the journey, which offers excellent views of the triangular peaks of the Virunga volcanoes of Rwanda and the Congo.

The road then drops down into a valley, to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home to the mountain gorillas! Overnight at Mantana Tented Camp / Gorilla Resort (FB) or any other Safari Lodge

Day 3 Gorilla Tracking Safari in Bwindi Gorilla Forest, South West Uganda

Wake up early morning for a hearty breakfast to give you the energy needed for gorilla tracking. Before 8:00 am report to the ranger station for a brief talk by one of the rangers as well as registration; the guides will then take you to track the gorillas through the bush pushing your way through the undergrowth and parting thick creepers.

When the gorillas are sighted, visitors will be guided to within 6 meters of them and visitors; you will be told to sit around these animals for a whole hour gazing into their big round eyes.

These giants are so powerful and can sometimes weigh up to 250kilos. A reasonable degree of fitness is required as well as a sturdy pair of walking shoes, as this trek can take from half an hour to 5 hours. Take with you lunch boxes and all the necessary gear to track the rare Mountain Gorilla, perhaps one of the most exciting wildlife experiences.

It’s amazing to listen to them grumble to each other, and marvel at the sheer size of the dominant male; the silverback, as well as watch only about 650 of these beautiful creatures left as Park Guides, interpret the flora and fauna and the lifestyle of the Gorillas. In the afternoon relax at the Camp OR the option of taking a forest walk to see how the Ugandans live.

Day 4: Game drive at Queen Elizabeth National Park

After a morning breakfast depart early with our packed lunch for Queen Elizabeth National Park. We will drive through the southern sector of Queen Elizabeth known as Ishasha, famed for its tree-climbing lions. Ishasha is a remote and beautiful extension of Queen Elizabeth National Park.

We will see buffalo, topi, and hippo among other species. It is a fabulous sight to see the lions draped from the trees and nowhere in Africa do you stand a better chance of seeing this than in the large low-limbed fig tree of Ishasha.

Day 5: Wildlife Tour in Queen Elizabeth National Park, South Western Uganda

After Breakfast, Have an early morning game drive and spot Elephants, waterbucks, warthogs, hippos, and others. We’re going to come back for dinner to the lodge. A boat excursion along the Kazinga Channel in the afternoon provides you the chance to see wildlife up close: hippo’s huff and spray just feet away from the ship, buffalo lingering in the shallows.

The shores of the channel are also home to an array of birds including pink backed pelicans, pied and malachite kingfishers, saddle billed stork and many others. After this wonderful afternoon, slow drives back to the lodge.

Day 6: Transfer to Kibale Chimpanzee Forest

Following breakfast, we will depart to Kibale Forest National Park. We will leave the park via the Northern Crater Area, with beautiful lake and rich grasslands, which are set deep in the crater valley; this is truly the most breathtaking scenery in the park arriving at the park late afternoon.

Day 7: Chimpanzee Tracking in Kibale Forest

A relatively early morning start, to report to the ranger station in Kibale National Park at 08.00 am to track habituated chimps – these delightful apes, more closely related to humans than to any other living creature, are tremendous fun to watch as they squabble and play in fruiting trees.

The incredibly diverse forest is home to over 13 species of primates including red Colobus monkey, the rare L’Hoest, blue monkey, grey mangabey, pottos, black-faced vervet monkeys, baboons and also bush babies.

A network of shady forest trails provides much to delight botanists and butterfly lovers, while birders are in for a treat with 335 species recorded including the endemic Prirogrine’s ground thrush.

The elusive forest elephant, smaller and hairier that its savannah counterpart, moves seasonally into the developed part of the park, while other terrestrial mammals include buffalo, giant forest hog and a half dozen antelope species.

If you have energy in the afternoon, you will go for a guided walk in Bigodi Swamp to look for different bird species like the Shining Blue Kingfisher, Blue Throated Roller and other rare species and also find the fruiting trees, which attract Narina Trogon, Pied Hornbill, Yellow Spotted, Hairy Breasted and Yellow-Billed Barbets.

Day 8: Transfer to Kampala

This is your Uganda Safari’s last day after dinner we’ll be leaving for the evening arriving in Kampala.
